The Keystone Building is the largest single construction project ever undertaken by the University of Glasgow, with a total gross internal floor area of 27,000m² and representing a £311million investment. While the historic Gilbert Scott Building is larger overall, it was delivered over many decades; Keystone is the University’s largest project completed in a single phase and is approximately 58% larger than the ARC.

The building will support learning and teaching, research, support services and collaboration across the University. It will accommodate over 3,600 teaching seats within a range of general teaching spaces, lecture theatres, and flexible teaching and computing superlabs. Around onethird of the building will be occupied by the James Watt School of Engineering, providing specialist research laboratories, academic offices and postgraduate research spaces.

Designed to support institutional growth and modern teaching methods, Keystone will significantly expand laboratory, teaching and computing capacity. The University plans to take occupation in mid2028 to allow for fitout and movein, with the first cohort of students expected to be welcomed in September 2028.
