The Clarice Pears School of Health and Wellbeing
The Clarice Pears Building brings together the University of Glasgow’s School of Health & Wellbeing from ten separate locations into a single, multidisciplinary centre on the Gilmorehill campus. The building is named after Clarice Pears and was supported by a £5 million donation from the Pears Foundation.
The facility enhances the School’s capacity for postgraduate taught and research study, strengthens its profile within the sector, and supports the attraction and retention of high‑calibre staff. It is designed to encourage both planned and informal collaboration through shared social and academic spaces, hosting joint seminars, workshops and knowledge‑exchange activities.
The building provides a base for partnership working with external organisations, including the NHS, government, voluntary sector and industry, supporting the translation of research into policy and practice with real‑world health impact. A publicly accessible ground floor supports engagement and widening participation. The Clarice Pears Building hosts three multidisciplinary research themes: health determinants and inequalities; data science and big‑data analysis; and solutions‑focused research evaluating evidence‑based interventions.
